When do you lose the registration, when you close the EM or when you logoff your computer?

It is not all the time. I will open EM and they will be gone. I have a number of them and it takes time to get them back. Is there a way to back the registration up?

The registration is stored in the registry, so you could export those keys to a reg file, and then when it happens again, just double click on the reg file to get them back.

But it sounds like you have some problems on your PC as this should never happen unless someone is messing with you when you leave your desk.

I think the registration info is kept in the current user registry hive (HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server\80\Tools\SQLEW\Registered Servers X).

It's possible your profile settings on the computer are not being saved when you logout. The information above would normally be saved on logout.

I see them in the Registered Servers X key. I will export this key and keep it until it happens again. Thanks Jason and Tara.
