I need to transfer all of my quicksbooks data to Great Plains and I am looking for some guidance. From what I have read so far, I am in for a big mess. Here is what is going on. I extracted all of the QuickBooks data using the QODBC driver (http://www.qodbc.com/default.htm) and imported them into SQL tables. The data is better structured and more complete as compared to the typical QuickBooks export. I know we are going to have to do this again right before the transfer but I wanted to test it out. It seems like she wants a transfer of the all historical data in addition to the "open work" data transfer. This is due to a desire to dump QuickBooks entirely and not to have to rely on 2 systems for financial reporting for this years data. In all it is a little less than 50MB (in SQL) of data involving 372 customers, 1042 vendors, 2382 Sales records etc.... This is not a terribly large amount of data. And yes some cleanup is going to occur beforehand.Does anyone have any documentation, white papers, scripts etc... from a past attempt. Any guidance? Microsoft appears to have kept all of this info close to the chest and they appear to want you to do everything through their overpriced resellers.Sean RoussyPlease backup all of your databases including master, msdb and model on a regular basis. I am tired of telling people they are screwed. The job you save may be your own.I am available for consulting work. Just email me though the forum. |

For a response to an original activity that is 4+ years old, this advice is somewhat out of date. Other than pure product/service advertising....which comes very close to spam |
