| We have just updated the firmware and drivers on our Dell PowerEdge 8450 server Perc3/Dc controllers from revision dated 2002 to the latest (dated 2004). During this we added an adaptec firewire card to the server to do an additional external disk backup just in case the firmware flash failed. We have started encountering corruptions as documented on pages that refer to stale reads and lost writesHas anyone else had these problems or know if Perc3/Dc controllers respect SQL Server's I/O requirements. We have turned off the write back caches, removed the firewire card and things seem to have stablised a bit.RegardsPaul Cahill |

| It's a shame to say but I don't think Dell UK know what a server is.I tried asking them about parts for their PV220S scsi enclosures recently. They put me on to a 3rd party reseller. |

| I had a friend that worked as a DBA using Dell gear, and then as a member of PSS for SQL Server. I remember him saying something about how evil the PERC cards were with SQL Server.Maybe a call to PSS for SQL Server would help point you in the right direction?Michael<Yoda>Use the Search page you must.
