| I have a license for VS.NET 2005 Developer edition, which comes with SQL Server 2005 Developer edition. Because my current development machine is too anemic to run SQL Server 2005, I am only running Express.Question: Is it possible to install the 'real' management studio on top of Express? When insatlling SQL, one can select the items to install, so it seems that it should be possible.Thanks. |

| The full version of Management Studio will work against SQL Express without any problems. You may find some features in SSMS are not available when working against Express since those features are not included with Express. As long as you stay within the scope of the licensing agreement for SQL Developer Edition, there is no reason you can't connect to SQL Express from SSMS.Note: This isn't really "on top of" as SSMS is a completely independent program.
