I thought I would post this just in case you are not aware of the change of the Daylight Saving Time start and end dates in 2007. This is really an OS problem, not a SQL Server problem, but it could have a big impact on your applicaitons if you are not prepared. The first change is less that 2 months away, so it's not a bad time to give it some thought.

Here are some articles about preparing systems for the 2007 daylight savings time changes that you might find of interest.

Preparing for daylight saving time changes in 2007:
“Starting in the spring of 2007, daylight saving time (DST) start and end dates for the United States will transition to comply with the Energy Policy Act of 2005. DST dates in the United States will start three weeks earlier (2:00 A.M. on the second Sunday in March) and will end one week later (2:00 A.M. on the first Sunday in November).

Microsoft will be producing an update for Microsoft products affected by the new United States daylight saving time transition dates. These updates will be released through a combination of channels including Microsoft Customer Support Services (CSS), hotfixes incorporated in Knowledge Base articles, Windows Update, Microsoft Update, Windows Server Update Services (WSUS), and the Microsoft Download Center.”

Daylight Saving Time in Canada:
The article in the link below indicates that all Canadian provinces except for Nunavut have decided to follow the US daylight savings changes in 2007. The article contains links to news articles with official announcements of the changes.

also, it should be noted that Microsoft is not providing a patch for Windows 2000. You will have to manually update the host using the tzedit tool with the instructions in this KB article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/914387

-ec

Also, the Windows patch and TZEDIT only change the time zone definitions for particular time zones, but do not change the definition of the current time zone. That is stored in a different spot in the registry.

To change the current time zone, you can use the control panel to change to a different time zone, apply that, and change back to the original time zone, and apply that as shown in the KB article linked above.

You can also use the TIMEZONE.EXE utility from the Windows 2003 Resource kit to change the DST start and end dates for the current time zone only. This command changes them to the correct US values for 2007 for US time zones that use DST (all except Arizona and Hawaii), 2:00 am on the 2nd Sunday in March (02:0:2:03) and 2:00 am on the 1st Sunday in November (02:0:1:11):
TIMEZONE.EXE /s 02:0:2:03 02:0:1:11

Results:
Timezone was changed to :

Daylight Saving Time begins at 02:0:2:03
Daylight Saving Time ends at 02:0:1:11

The command completed successfully

Edit 2007/01/15:
I found link a free utility that will handle the DST time zone updates for windows machines running XP, NT, 2000, 2003, Vista. It updates Daylight Saving Time in these time zones:
-Alaska Standard Time Zone
-Central Standard Time Zone
-Eastern Standard Time Zone
-Mountain Standard Time Zone
-Pacific Standard Time Zone
-Atlantic Standard Time Zone (Canada)
-Newfoundland Standard Time Zone (Canada)
http://www.intelliadmin.com/blog/2007/01/unofficial-windows-2000-daylight.html

Sample command for silent install from command line:

DaylightSavingFix.exe /qinstall

I believe you will still have to use the TIMEZONE.EXE command to set the current time zone.
