SSMSE does not allow you to view or use certain features which are not provided in the Express edition like replication, which you can do through SSMS. Of course, this difference comes due to the limitations placed by the underlying SQL Server edition.Harsh AthalyeIndia."The IMPOSSIBLE is often UNTRIED"

In the company that I was recently hired, there is a SQL Server 2K5 Enterprise Edition installed on the server. Another DBA instructed me to download and install SSMSE on my computer. I am supposed to administer the SQL 2K5 and I am new in 2K5. I have worked with 2K and EM and QA for years. Question is that should I continue with SSMSE and learn it or use SSMS. If SSMS how can I download it? Where should I look for it?Canada DBA

If you already have Enterprise Edition installed on the server, you can run the same setup on your machine to install just client tools (which includes SSMS). There is no need to download and install SSMSE.Harsh AthalyeIndia."The IMPOSSIBLE is often UNTRIED"

From licensing point of view, I have a license for the SQL Server installed on my server. If I install the client part on my machine, do I need a license?quote: Originally posted by harsh_athalye If you already have Enterprise Edition installed on the server, you can run the same setup on your machine to install just client tools (which includes SSMS).
