| Kayomarz writes "Dear Sir/Madam,Thank you for a very descriptive article on setting up a Network Attached Server [http://www.sqlteam.com/item.asp?ItemID=128]. Howwever, when I did try the setup, I have not been able to set up the storage device. I keep getting the following [enclosed] error:------------------------------------------------------DBCC execution completed. If DBCC printed error messages, contact your system administrator.Server: Msg 5177, Level 16, State 1, Line 1Encountered an unexpected error while checking the sector size for file '\\pdc-coat\users\kayo\data\test_nw_server.mdf'. Check the SQL Server error log for more information.Server: Msg 1802, Level 16, State 1, Line 1CREATE DATABASE failed. Some file names listed could not be created. Check previous errors.------------------------------------------------------I am using Windows 98, SQL Server 2000 personal edition. Is this the problem? .... I am testing it on my machine so that i can provide this solution to a client of mine. He has a Baan implementation and is running out of disk space. I have suggested this solution; but i would like to try it out with my database before i run his database through this procedure. BTW, the client has SQL Server 7.0 installed on Windows NT. I know i am missing something, but i cant figure out what. I have followed the instructions in the article word for word. Would appreciate help on this as soon as possible. My client has about 20 projected days before he runs out of disk space.Thanking you very much for the article again and I look forward to your reply about my problem.with Warm Regards,Kayo." |
