I created a operator first, then set up email notifiction if a job is failed. When the job fails, It did not send a message to the operator. Please let me know how you set up this. The following is what I did.
1. Create an operator
--Go to SSMS SWL Server Agent
--Right click "operator", select "new operator"
Name: jsmith (v)enabled
E-mail name: jsmith@ediscount.com
--Click "ok"
2. Set up email notifiction
--Go to SSMS SWL Server Agent
--Double click on the job, then select "notification"
Check (v) E-mail: jsmith When the job fails
--Click "ok"

Did you setup Database Mail yet?

Are you able to send a test e-mail to the operator from the Operator screen?
