Ok in SQL 2000 this is within the maintaince plan, where as i have to create a seprate one for sql 2005 being i assume the 'clean up history' I choose the backup andrestore option choose 2 weeks and then run the job once created it runs sucssessfully but yet it dosnt delete a thing. I have backups going back almost 2 months now.
What on earth am i not doing?

Thanks in advanced

I ran into a similar problem. remember, at the bottom of the screen, it gives you the option to specify the extension. make sure, you do not put a DOT "." before the extension, which is usually bak or trn. example in that box, mention bak not .bak or trn not .trn
Hope I confused you completely....
If you do not get it, let us know I can post a picture.

I understand what you are saying but i still cant find anywhere, where i can eneter the .bak to trn ext. i have tried modifying the maintaince task and also the job. Both i cant find anything.

I also looked when recreating a new maintaince task wizrd.

a picture might be very helpful if you could please

aslo found the screen, i did everything but the double click when desgining the task without the wizard.

Also it says 'search folder and del files on an extension' great i put the bak in and then i have to browse the location problem is i have about 60 subfolders under the backup folder (where all the other bak files are stored) can use a wildcard entry if so what is it none of the obvious are working.

Thanks
