I am developing an app in VB.Net 2005, and I installed SQL Server 2005 locally on my machine. My app access multiple databases on SQL and has worked like a charm in the past. Today, when I go to access my app, I receive an error when trying to connect to the SQL database."An error has occured while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL server does not allow remote connection"As I said before, this is a local install and worked fine until today. I checked the services running and Here is what I have:SQL Server Integration Services - RunningSQL Server FullText Search - StoppedSQL Server(SQLEXPRESS) - RunningSQL SERVER (MSSQLSERVER) - Stopped <---------- I tried restarting this and it times outSQL Server Analysis Services (MSSQLSERVER) - StoppedSQL Server Reporting Services (MSSQLSERVER) - StoppedSQL Server Browser - StoppedSQL Server Agent (MSSQLSERVER) - StoppedI am unable to start any of these services... they all time out. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

The problem is that SQL Server is not running. Check the Application Log and System Log in Event Viewer to see what error occurs when you try to start the SQL Server service. You can post the errors here if you need help deciphering them.Tara Kizer

It appears since I am using Windows Authentication, that SQL is no longer recognizing my password. How would I go about reconfiguring this and for it to use my updated password?Error in System Log:"The MSSQLSERVER service was unable to log on as ISF\bmc with the currently configured password due to the following error: Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password. "I recently changed my network password.

Just double click on the service to change the credentials or the password.BTW, you shouldn't be using your own account for any services. Create a local account, grant it local admin, then use that instead. Make sure to set the option to never expire the password.Tara Kizer
