This error message :
Cannot find the certificate 'AccountingCorp', because it does not exist or you do not have permission.
This Code
USE master
CREATE LOGIN Dave
FROM certificate AccountingCorp;
GO
******************
AccountingCorp was created wiht this code:
USE Frontier_equipment;
CREATE CERTIFICATE AccountingCorp
WITH SUBJECT = 'Frontier Accounting Records',
EXPIRY_DATE = '10/31/2009';
GO

Is the certificate in master db?

I was wondering where the code that I ran put that certificate. I could not see it in Frontier_equipment with management studio. It is someplace
because trying to create the certificate again I got a message that it already existed.

You may need check sys.certificates in every db on the server.

I solved the problem by more carefully reading the documentation.
I had created the certificate in an sql statement specifying use Frontier Equipment which confused the whole world. The Certificate needs to be in the master. When I created a new certificate with a new name
using master then everything worked.!!
