For more than three years, I program ASP.NET with SQL server and Crystal report. It works fine.
Do I need to use report service? What benefit will get if I use reports service?

Crystal Reports is expensive. More expensive than can be justified in my opinion.

Well if you already have a licenced version of SQL Server I believe Reporting Services comes with it (for free).. I think..
Even if it doesnt, I would recommend that you download Reporting Services, pick some of the toughest reports you have (in terms of complexity) and see if you can create the equivalent RS report. I worked for a company where the company decided to go with RS (for the same purpose= money) and we ended up converting hundreds of CR reports to RS and it was a pain. CR is a full fledged enterprise solution. RS hasnt yet reached there, in my opinion. but if your reports are simple, it might be worth moving to RS, to save the money.

small sidepoint, drilldown in RS is crappy. Run it in Dev environment and it's fine. Run it on a web page and the screen will refresh each time you click a drilldown plus sign

>> It works fine
then why change?

If it does evertything you want and you are happy with the cost then why take the risk and time.

Cursors are useful if you don't know sql.
DTS can be used in a similar way.
