Hi
i wanna connect to a server that is installed with domain registration and using both sql and windows authentication.on this server i have created database and login for that respective database,but when i am trying to connect this server it gives me error. The login that i m using is able to connect when i m trying to connect server from console of the server.Please help me..

When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: TCP Provider, error: 0 - A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond.) Hi Tara
one thing more i have checked on my server is that browser service of the server is disabled .So, is this also effects in the connectivity ?

Yes the browser service needs to be enabled and started.

If that doesn't get rid of the error, try adding an alias to the client using SQL Server Configuration Manager.

Did you even open up SQL Server Configuration Manager? There is an alias section in there.

I have sortout browser problem (have started browser service) but still this server is not connected from my machine. (its a remote server)

yes administrator is the instance name

They are using Plask for security , because of that i think this is happens, because i have already check every thing on the server but i dnt have knowledge of Plask. Can u please tell me something abt plesk security ? Thanks chander

I have no idea what Plask is. You should contact them for more information.

You probably can fix this with an alias though, but you seem to be ignoring my posts that mention this. Search the forums for my detailed explanations of aliases. I go into quite great detail about how to create them using Client Network Utility, SQL Server Configuration Manager, or via regedit.
