I'm not able to find sp_start_job under system stored procedures in msdb. If I just run sp_start_job I get execute permission denied. If I run sp_helptext sp_start_job I get the below errorThe object 'sp_start_job' does not exist in database 'msdb' or is invalid for this operationI am not sure, what is missing, permission or the system procedure itself is not there?ThanksKarunakaran |

I saw what you posted, but sp_start_job is in the msdb database. If it isn't there, you have an error.I don't suppose you actually ran my code did you?CODO ERGO SUM |

You are right, I did not run, when I posted the earlier reply. Because I believe that USE msdb and selecting the database in the SSMS are equivalent.I did ran it now, and got the same error. Below is the exact error I got.quote: Msg 15009, Level 16, State 1, Procedure sp_helptext, Line 54The object 'sp_start_job' does not exist in database 'msdb' or is invalid for this operation.
It looks like either my sql installation is wrong, something was not installed.ThanksKarunakaran |

Well, since I see a bunch of other system stored procedures, I did not think this proc might be dropped or renamed. I have to check with DBA.ThanksKarunakaran |
