| Is it possible to install a 2000 instance on a 2005 server? Just install a named instance and install 2000 in a different directory? |

it should be possible. We have servers with both SQL 2000 and SQL 2005 installed so I know it works. However, I have not installed an instance of SQL 2000 after a SQL 2K5 install - so I am not certain if the order things are installed is a factor.-ec |

| On my portable I have SQL2000 AND SQL2005SP2 and they work nice.I even use the "SQL Server Management Studio" of SQL2005 to admin my SQL2000.One thing: I installed SQL2000 first and then SQL2005 (with another name and subdir) and SP2 on it afterwards. I don't know if you can first install SQL2000 and then SQL2005.IF Debugging = removing bugs from program THEN programming := putting bugs in program; |

| If you install SQL 2000 after 2005, you MUST apply all service packs to the 2000 instance. |
