 Transaction Log is Full

I was trying to create a table on a Database and it gave me this message:

'tblSuggestion' table - Unable to create table. The transaction log for 'Database' is full. To find out why space in the log cannot be reused, see the log_reuse_wait_desc column in sys.databases

And I don't see the log_reuse_wait_desc column anywhere.

Any ideas?

ALTER DATABASE DB_NAME SET RECOVERY SIMPLE

CHECKPOINT

BACKUP LOG DB_NAME WITH NO_LOG

DBCC SHRINKFILE (LOG_FILE_NAME, 1024)

/*1024 is file size you want to shrink the log file to you can select any*/

ALTER DATABASE DB_NAME SET RECOVERY FULL ---(OPTIONAL)

You should backup log periodically if the db is not in simple recovery model.
