| Check whether instance name has been given or not (for eg if sql express then rknair\sqlexpress).if its also not working then give the port number along with name seperated by a comma...RKNAIR |

| If u r having Sql Server 2005 Express Edition just give \sq1express after the machine name when connecting using SSMS.Do u have more than one sql instance on the same machine????RKNAIR |

| Did you enable remote access on the server? Is sql server broswer service running? You can find instance name in sql server configuration manager. |

| To see what the instance name (if it exists) is you would simply go into Administrative Tools and then Services and look for SQL Server and if there is a SQL Server (instancename) then the instance name is in the ( ), otherwise it is the default instance which means that it is simply the machine name.If there is an instance name, then you would connect with machinename\instancename as the server name.------------Ben Miller |
