hi

i lost one of my instances.

i guess instance is also a database engine,
and has its own sevice runing.

on server 2000 sp4 sqlexpress.

i had 3 of them, now i have only 2.
it was servername, servername\bkupexec and servername\sqlexpress
the last one dont exist anymore.

yet the application that depands on the last one
have now problem.
it seems that now its working on the first instance.
i see the database on it.

i wonder how could it happen?
and could it make a preformance problem.
i dont see any performance issue yet.

thanks

You can tell by investigating the %Program Files%\Microsoft SQL Serverdirectory. How many subdirectories do you have?

Maybe the last instance has not started?

hi again

well, looking at the services, i have notice
that they changed.
now i have
mssqlserver instead of sqlexpress
dont have the sql server ad helper
dont have the sql server agent

i know that beacuse i restore the server
to another machine in lab invironment.

yet dont understand how it become.
no issue yet. no perormance issue.
sqlexpress can be load, and i can see the app database.

thanks

80 is for SQL Server 2000, 90 is for SQL Server 2005.
What's important is the xx.1 and xxx.2 directories.

It seems to me you have two instances installed.

Looks like your app is talk to default instance. Did anyone rebuild server?
