Hello,

I wonder which differences there are between Sql Server and Sql Server Compact Edition. In which case to use Compact Edition rather than Normal Edition ?
For example, which version is it preferable to use for a database which is just use to persist some informations of a single program ?

Thanks,

mathmax

Compact Edition (previously Mobile Edition) is a compact database for embedding in mobile and desktop applications. I prefer express for desktop since it has more features. Standard and enterprise editions are better but they are not free.

Check out http://www.microsoft.com/sql/editions/compact/sscecomparison.mspx for a paper we wrote to help people decide which engine to use. They are both great choices for desktop applications, but which one you need depends upon your specific solution.
