| Does anyone have any thoughts as to the effectiveness of increasing the RAM on our server? We have a server with twin 733 processors (with 256 L2 cach on-board) and 256Mb RAM. We use the server for SQL Server 2000 almost exclusively. We tend to run fairly complex queries/stored procedures across large tables (3million+ records and 250+ fields) with no more than 3 concurrent users. Some queries/stored procedures take up to 5 hours to run. Will adding more RAM improve things considerably (there is space for 4Gb)? Or are we going to have to improve the processors?Any pointers would be good - our advice so far has been rather conflicting!============The Dabbler! |
