| if one connects to SQL server (2005) with integrated security, does sql server connect to ADS in order to verify the credentials or does windows handle the authentification mechanism ?thanks |

| When you originally authenticate to AD, your session is issued a Ticket Granting Ticket (TGT) by Kerberos. When you then authenticate to SQL, the TGT is passed to SQL Server, which uses the identity attached to it to check its security settings. Based on the permissions in SQL you are then allowed to log in and access resources.Hope this helps.Thanks,Rich |
