I feel the error "Time out Expired" is very strange,it seem that whatever kind of mistake can cause this error.
Now,Here is a Dell 6400 mail server with WINNT+Exchange server 5.5+Site Server 3.0,when I install the latest Service Pack of SQL 2k(Desktop Engine version),this mail server cannot connect to anyother SQL server. The error I got was "Time out Expired"(using odbcping got the same result). Then I install a SQL Server 2000 Enterprise version on this mail server, something seems strange happened:other machine can connect to the SQL server easily, the mailserver itsself can only use "local" or 127.0.0.1 as the server name to connect to,otherwise,as u know,Time out Expired.why?Something wrong with the ODBC network lib??Who can tell me??
