I'm have been assigned the task of installing SQL Server 2005 as a cluster on a Windows cluster that has already been setup with a sans.I've done alot of reading the past two days and I still have a few questions which I need answered before I begin. Our setup-DC - nothing but domain controllerS1 - SQL server 1S2 - SQL server 2S1 and S2 share the following drives (database) (transaction logs) (F) (G)Do I install SQL on each of the clusters? If so, do I just follow the instructions the exact same? And am I suppose to power S2 down while I install SQL on S1 and then vice-versa?Thanks.

So, you have a 3-node cluster with your DC on one server and the other two you plan on using for a clustered SQL instance? Seems odd to have the DC in the same cluster, but ok.Take a look at this: http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms179530.aspxYou'll need to setup the necessary accounts/groups, create a cluster group for SQL and its resources to reside, add/move the F: and G: drives as cluster resources in this group and run the setup, with all nodes online, on one of the sql nodes. Refer to the instructions in the link above.

Actually it's a 2 node cluster. The 2 SQL server. I was just informing about the DC. The Windows 2003 has been installed and setup as a cluster. My only task is to install the SQL server as a cluster. I have that link you gave me printed out and I've read it a couple of times but it doesn't seem to come out and tell me. Do I install SQL on S1 on C: and then on S2 on C:?or Do I install SQL on the (database) sans drive which is recognized on S1 and S2?I've installed SQL before but never as a cluster.

When you run the setup on one of the cluster nodes, one of the first prompts is asking what you want to install. Below the checkbox for SQL Database Engine is "Create a failover cluster". When you check these, the database service will be installed on both nodes.

What do I need to do if I accidentally forget to install the tools? Can I just install them on each SQL server separately?

Yes, you have to install client tool and ssis on each node. And have to apply sp and hotfix on each node.
