| What is the best way to get notification for a sql server 2005 job that runs longer than certain time. |

| I know that some type of monitoring needs to be set up. Your reply equates to if some one asks about a mechanical issue with their car and you tell them to get it fixed, which they alread know that it needs to be fixed.But my question whether it could be done with some built in functionality or thru scripts?Plus these jobs runs every 5 minutes 24/7 and need to be notified if they run over 10 minutes. |

| There is no such builtin function for that, you have to write your own code and run it in schedule. |

This functionality isn't built in, you can use MOM with Microsoft SQL Server Management Pack which has a function for this. For a free solution check out the following link:http://www.sqldts.com/271.aspxIt's called Job monitor and it does what you are looking for using only SQL. Future guru in the making. |
