Dear All,

Could anyone guide me to prepare for the Interview in SQL SERVER 2005.

I have studied the relevant things from background knowledge from the SQL Server books. But is there any specific areas in which I have to concentrate for the sake of Interview?

Thanks in Advance.

Focus on the fundamentals.Try to explain the real time scenarios you have faced.

shower and shave beforehand. show up at least 10 mins early. don't stare at the ground when you are talking. research the company beforehand so you know something about what they do.

usually they ask you a lot about performance issues that you might have handled. If not, pick up something from the books, cook up a great story about how you solved a performance issue and you will score there.
They are pretty brutal about perfmon counters especially "Buffer Cache hit Ratio" is their real star. They also have started asking a lot of times, questions on Locks, Lock escalation and types of isolation levels. BOL has all that information. and no matter what happens....if the interviewer is not a developer, remember to crack a joke or take a jibe at developers in general and of course, keep your eyes off the pretty interviewer's assets.
All the best.

Also take note... I have been giving interviews and I ask the candidates to tell me what is new in SQL Server 2005? If the candidate can give me at least 2 new improvements\additions (but would be looking for 3 improvements\additions) then the candidate passed that question.

Good Luck!

I'd answer: "nothing, the product is 2 years old now, wanna hear what's new in 2008?".

Tell them a story about how you caused a huge problem and then came out looking like a hero when you fixed it.
