I would like to use bcp and transfer image data from MS-SQL Server 6.5 to MS SQL Server 2005.

1. Can I use bcp successfully? if so should I mention any option to copy the BLOB?
2. Is there any reliable method to move tables with BLOBs

Regards,

First of all, you have to transfer to SQL server 7.0 or SQL server 200

Then you can move it with data import wizard.

Can I do dump and load to MS-SQL 7 from 6.5? The import will need exclusive access to the source I believe - which is difficult in our case.

Database backups that were created by using SQL Server 6.5 or earlier are in an incompatible format and cannot be restored in SQL Server 2005. Migrate data from a SQL Server 6.0 or SQL Server 6.5 database by using bcp out to export the data into a data file in character mode Then, use bcp in with the -V option to import the data into a SQL Server 2005 database

Hi,

This was my original question. Will bcp takecare of the image data properly. In sybase, there is an option -T to bcp out the text/image data.

Works with text column but not sure about image column, you can test it easily.
