Hi,
We are planning to transfer a database which is currently in 7 to a new server which is 2005. What is the best way to do this?

Thanks,

use backup/restore to move the database. you then need to change the compatibility level of the restored database on the sql2k5 box to 90.

You may also need to migrate the logins from your SQL7 to SQL2k5. You can find a scrpt from microsoft called sp_help_revlogin that makes this step really easy.

You should also download and run the latest version of the SQL Server 2005 Upgrade Advisor to identify possible issues.
