| My database is of 10 gb, when backup is taken the size of .bak file is less than 10 gb.Why? |

Are you using all available space for the 10 gb file?I believe some space is not used within the file. E 12°55'05.25"N 56°04'39.16" |

| It could depend on a lot of things. You may have datatypes in there that when they are backed up the trailing spaces may be trimmed, There could be a lot of free space in your .mdf. Like Ratheeshknair said it I would not worry about it to much. If there is a drastic size difference you may want to restore the database to another database, or another server just to verify that your backups are good.Chris Shawwww.SQLonCall.com |
