| Kathy Reyes writes "I am trying to back up two databases one is 30GB and the other is 39GB. I am backing it up to a remote storage device on the same network I have a good amount of space on the machine about 72 GB. Every time I run the backup to this given machine it fails with an error of "The Microsoft Tape Format (MTF) soft file mark database on backup device Divice_name cannot be read inhibiting random access". I am not running the backups at the same times but I always get the same error. I've tried scheduling the jobs when the database is less in use and manual running the backups. I don’t seem to find any reason why this is not working. Now if I run a backup of a smaller database like 9GB it works without a problem and even if I run the backup of one of the two 30+ GB databases to a different machine on the same network they works. I'm not sure if you could help me but I cant seem to figure out why these backups fail. But I need to store it on the storage device. You help is really appreciatedKathy ReyesJunior Database administratorI am using SQL Server 7.0, Microsoft Windows Version 5.0 SP2" |
