Hi...
I installed Mssql server 2000(client only) into my machine, my os is windows XP.. after installing when i try to connect from Query analyzer i get an error

unable to connect to server
MSG17,level16,state 1
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][shared Memory] sql server does not exist or access denied.
both tcp/ip and named pipes are enabled..

Pl help.. thanx in advance

Did you install the server components on another machine then?

Then you don't have a server to connect to, hence the error.
