I was informed (by Microsoft) that for all SQL Servers prior 2008 recommended (or must) stripe size is 64k
Does anyone knows full set of settings that must be applied when
setting up raid 5 for sql server box

Thanks

That applys on raid for db data and log files, you can use bigger stripe size for os and binaries.

I recall that it kind of depends on the volume and size of the "traffic" that will be passed to the hardware in terms of KB size of reads/writes. I may just be tweaked from the coffee though. To be honest, I am not sure.

The person who gave this tip is not just another Microsoft support guy. But one of the production managers of MS VS.
There was no mention of size of the data or else... It was like a rule, in order to increase sql performance.

I am not sure why you wouldn't trust Microsoft managers. After all, only one of them is part of the class action suit regarding Vista logos since he bought a 2,100 computer that was "Vista Capable" but really wasn't.

As I said, i don't really know for sure on this one....just a recollection that "it depends"
