Hmmm. I had a similar problem when installing SMSS 2005 on my work PC last year...have you installed IIS (required for reporting services)..that may be the snag.

Dunno..same thing happened to me before i remembered I had to install IIS first. Then it worked fine. Does it still fail after you install IIS?

I Have fixed on Control panel box on Add/ Remove Windows Wizard and re-Run the COM+ Components to fix.

Add/Remove Snap-in.

In the Add/Remove Snap-in window, Add.

Add Standalone Snap-in window, select Component Services from the list of snap-ins, and then click Add.

close the Add Stand-alone Snap-in window, close the Add/Remove Snap-in window.

In the Console Root\Component Services window, expand the Component Services tree. This is where any error message would occur if there was a problem with COM+.

(Here There is no Error Occured for me)

Run Setup again. If you get an error message, reinstall COM+.

(Here There is no Error Occured for me)

I dont have another CD but It is good set of 2 CD's.

Further Any Suggestions...........

Yes indeed !!!!!!! Couldn't resolve the issue with COM+ issue is all the hurdle for me to install the Developer edition.

I Dont have other set of CD's and they were absolutely perfect.

I have done all permutation and combinations for the absorption of COM+ issue.

Any problem if IGNORED COM+ and what are the repurcussions thereafter the installation.

Did you look at installation log files for details?

I did everytime as It says the Intial READING of the COM+ is the root cause of the installation snag.
