Hi all,
i 'm looking to migrate sql server 2000 database to sql server 2005. Can i do it by detaching database in 2000 and attaching database in 2005. or can i do it using DTS package? Which is the best way to go for it? can anyone suggest me on this plz?

Backup/Restore will be best option. If you do detach/attach method,by some mean if you can't attach to SQL 2005. You won't be able to attach back to SQL 2000.

sodeep is right. and when you restore the backup don't forget to change the database compatibility level to 90

I think before changing compatibility level to 90 you should understand certain precaution:
